Amy Sheffer joining you today with a colorful pair of birthday cards featuring some of my very favorite things: white card stock, rainbow colors, black and white twine, and polka dots!
My first card is a surprise birthday party invitation. I started by die-cutting a curved edge on the top part of the card base. I knew I wanted to create something with washi tape for the inside of the card, and having those fun colors peek out from the inside was the perfect way to add some color to the front.
Knowing that I would be coating my word die-cut with Bitty Beads, I first covered a scrap of white card stock with 1/2" Red Line Tape. I adhered three rows next to each other in order to cover an area large enough for my word die-cut. Next, I placed the word die onto the red line tape and ran it through my die-cutting machine. I removed the die, leaving the word die-cut inlaid into the surrounding card stock, then removed the tape just from the word die-cut and sprinkled on some Bitty Beads, pressing to make sure the beads adhered firmly. (Leaving the die-cut inlaid into the larger piece of card stock helped give me something to hold onto while I was adding the Bitty Beads.) Once the Bitty Beads were adhered, I separated the die-cut from the negative and adhered the die-cut to the card front using liquid glue.
On the inside of the card, I adhered short strips of polka dot washi tape in rainbow order. I used a black marker to draw on the wicks, then adhered Clear Twinkle Drops for the flames.
The top half of the inside still has plenty of room for invitation details.
This time, I started with my colorful washi tape sentiment. I adhered strips of washi tape to white card stock side-by-side, covering an area approximately the size of my sentiment die, then die-cut the sentiment. I love those cheery colors and the polka dots!
I adhered the sentiment to a birthday-themed cover plate die-cut, along with balloon die-cuts, Lollies, and Rivets in a rainbow of colors. So festive!
Along the bottom, to help ground the sentiment, I added a narrow strip of Silver Skinny Glitter Tape and some black and white twine from the Twine Assortment.
Supplies: Polka Washi Tape (assorted colors), Silver Skinny Glitter Tape, Lollies, Rivets, Twine Assortment
