It's Amy Sheffer here today. If you like to give lots of cards, chances are birthday cards are some of the ones you need to replenish the most often. Queen & Company's Birthday Shaker Kit is a super easy way to elevate your next batch of birthday cards to something beyond the norm.
The three shaker elements in the Birthday Shaker Kit -- candle, party hat, and cake -- are perfectly sized for use on cards, serving as a focal point, yet leaving room for additional decorating. They're easy to use, too! If you've ever shied away from shakers because they seemed like too much work or seem too messy, give these a try!
I started by adhering the foam party hat shape to a scrap of white card stock, then trimmed it down to match the foam shape. You can also adhere the foam shape directly to your panel or card base. For this shaker, I wanted the back of the party hat to be white (to allow the pink shaker filler color to stay true), so I hand-trimmed a separate backer piece. Next, I filled the shaker with some pink Fimo Flowers and some sparkly pink Pastel Diamonds for a subtle feminine touch. To the top of the party hat, I adhered a Yellow Pom Flower, and then adhered the whole shaker element to a green circle die-cut.
On a white panel, I stamped the "celebrate" sentiment repeatedly top to bottom in a subtle yellow ink, off-setting between each impression. At the top, I adhered a two-layer garland that I die-cut from patterns in the Pretty Presents 6x6 Mat Stack. For the solid garland, I chose a pink pattern to echo the pink shaker filler and to once again make the card lean a little toward the feminine. Last, I topped the garland with two Yellow Rivets.
Before adhering the shaker focal point, I added a strip of patterned paper along the bottom as well as some Yellow Sparkle String double-wrapped and tied off in a bow. Last, I adhered the whole base panel to a scalloped border card base, using foam tape for dimension.

Sticking with the birthday theme, I created this bright, high-energy birthday card featuring the candle shaker element from the Birthday Shaker Kit.
I used the candle die from the Birthday Shaker Kit to cut a trio of candles from different patterns in the Pretty Presents 6x6 Mat Stack, then turned the yellow candle into a shaker, filling it with Yellow Pops for a monochromatic look. I like that the candle shaker cavity underneath the die-cut is one big open space, rather than individual compartments to match the die-cut because this allows bigger toppings plenty of room to move around and do their shaker thing!
As a backdrop to my candle trio, I layered circle die-cuts in all different sizes, colors and patterns onto a white card base. The circles and bright colors give off such high-energy vibe — perfect for sending birthday cheer.
I stamped a sentiment in the lower right corner and embellished with some “confetti” using green, red, and yellow Donuts. The final touch was a yellow striped button from the Button Bouquet II Yellow collection topped with some black striped Twine. The button echoes the circle theme, and the black twine adds a pop of black to balance out the black stamped sentiment.
Another birthday card ready to go, and best of all, it's gender-neutral and appropriate for any age!

Now I will share two butterfly shaker cards featuring the Solo Butterfly Card Kit. Making shaker cards has never been easier! These card kits come with just about everything you need to create two butterfly shaker cards. Just add your choice of Toppings and decorate to suit!
My first butterfly card is a quick, clean-and-simple number featuring lots of fun Q&Co bling. For the inside of the shaker, I've used a pretty striped patterned paper from the Flirty Florals 6x6 Mat Stack. There are two ways to add patterned paper to the inside of the shaker. One way is to adhere a patterned paper panel to the card base, then adhere your shaker foam to that. The second way is to use the coordinating Solo Butterfly Foam Front Die which cuts both the outside frame and the inside butterfly. For this card, I first adhered my foam front to the card base, and then placed the butterfly patterned paper die-cut inside the shaker, which means I still have the outside frame to use on another card. I can definitely recommend the coordinating die, as it opens up more design possibilities!
I filled my shaker with turquoise pearlies from the Pearlies Bright collection, then adhered the acetate layer to seal everything in.
The shaker card kits come with a top layer of white card stock already die-cut to match the foam front. Decorate, stamp, embellish however you'd like and adhere to the foam front to complete the card. I added a trail of bling below the butterfly and a sentiment to the right wing. The trail of bling includes Yellow and Pink Sparklers, Pink and Blue Petite Posies, Green Sequin Sprinkles, Blue Sunflowers, and Yellow Iridescent Pearls. I added some Silver Skinny Glitter Tape and yellow striped Twine underneath the wood veneer sentiment, which helps draw attention to the sentiment and echoes the shimmer and sparkle of the Pearlies and the butterfly trail.
My next card was constructed in the exact same way as the first. I adhered the foam front to the card base, then used the Solo Butterfly Foam Front Die to cut a butterfly from patterned paper, this time from the Picture Perfect 6x6 Mat Stack.
I adhered the patterned paper butterfly inside the shaker and filled the shaker with various toppings, including Yellow and Green Sequin Sprinkles, Pink Pops, Blue Pastel Diamonds, and blue Bitty Beads. (Just like with the first card, I have the outer patterned paper frame leftover for another project.)
On a white card stock top layer, I did some ink blending in aqua in the bottom left corner, stamped a sentiment, added a green striped Twine butterfly trail (Scrap Happy Sheer Glue is great for this -- just a couple of tiny dots will secure the twine), and embellished with a generous assortment of flowers and bling, including Blue Pinwheels, Pink Pom Flowers, and larger Bling Flowers.
