Jen Chapin here, and today I am sharing a couple colorful layout with you. My first, is a pink layout! I had fun creating this layout to document a photo of my daughter at three years old. The colors coordinated perfectly with her outfit.
I started this layout with a 12x12 sheet of white cardstock that I had ran through my die cut machine and cut some wonky circles. I then backed it with a piece of magenta cardstock, and used some of the Queen & Company 6x6 paper pads to peek through the negative spaces.
I was excited to use some of the butterfly pop-ups on this layout, along with a few of the pink toppings. I used black to outline the butterflies in order to provide more contrast to the layout.
I also used a black title to pop against the pink and white, and filled in a few of the negative spaces with pink watercolor. Journaling was typed with one of my vintage typewriters. I had such a great time creating this monochromatic layout.
Supplies used on this Pink layout: Pearlies Bright toppings, Butterfly Shaped Shaker set, Sparklers, Iridescent Pearls, Petite Posies, Lollies, Bitty Beads, Delightful Dots paper pad, Pretty Presents paper pad, Simple Stripes paper pad, Picture Perfect paper pad
Other items: Cardstock, tissue paper, foam title, typewriter
Here is my next color-coded layout in red. This palette was perfect to document a sweet 4th of July photo from this past year.
I started out with a white die cut and a piece of 8.5x11 white cardstock. I used some of my circle punches to punch out patterned paper from some of the Queen & Company 6x6 paper pads. The scaled down patterns are perfect for use in small die cuts like this.
I also used some red watercolor to fill in a few of the circles for added color. I like the softness and variety that adds. I also embellished with a few embelliushments from Queen and Company, along with some die cut flowers from the Flower Set.
I decided on a black title to pop against the white background and I think it turned out really well! A date stamp and some journaling finished off my page.
Supplies used for the RED layout: Pearlies Bright toppings, Bitty Beads, Flower Shaker Set, Sparklers, Iridescent Pearls, Petite Posies, Pinwheels, Red Pom Flowers, Flower Buttons
Other: Cardstock, Die Cutting Machine, typewriter, date stamp, black ink
Next up is PURPLE!!! Is it just me, or is purple under-represented in scrapbooking products? I love purple and am so excited that Queen and Company has so many options.
Purple always reminds me of Halloween, maybe because it goes so well with orange and black. For this page, I used the square dies and foam pop ups to create some custom embellishments for my layout.
I backed the foam squares with patterned papers from the Simple Stripes and Delightful Dots paper pads. I then added some assorted purple toppings to complete the look.
To mat my photo, I used a bit of orange polka dot washi tape for some added contrast. I love the unique look.
I finished off the page with a black foam title and some journaling. I also added a few black foam hearts and stars over the embellished square windows for added interest. This layout is a fun and simple way to create a grid-inspired page.
Supplies used for my Purple layout: Donuts Toppings, Pearlies Bright Toppings, Bitty Beads, Pinwheels, Square Pop-ups, Pops Toppings, Sequin Sprinkles, Diamonds Pastel Toppings, Purple Blossoms, Polka Orange Trendy Tape Other: Patterned paper, date stamp, black ink, typewriter
Last but certainly not least, I am sharing a rainbow-inspired layout with you using some great Queen & Company washi tapes.
After my tape was adhered, I placed my photo using some foam adhesive for a bit of added dimension. I then added Queen & Company embellishments, making sure to coordinate colors with what color of washi they were on.
I decided to go with a white title for this page, to make it pop against the bright colors. I also added my favorite type of journaling - strip journaling - below the title.
I also added a heart shaker from the Heart Throb kit next to the title, which was the perfect finishing touch!
Supplies I used for this Rainbow layout: Heart Throb Kit, Iridescent Pearls, Petite Posies, Lollies, Pinwheels, Opals, Trendy Tapes Washi Other: Cardstock, foam title, typewriter, date stamp, black ink
I hope you will try one of these techniques on your next layout!
