We've covered all sorts of techniques here on the Queen & Co blog. This technique by Jennifer Perks sparks a huge amount of inspiration for me, let us know what you think!
Stitching on Felt Ribbon
One of the techniques I love to do most is to add stitching to my pages. So when I first got the felt in my hands, I couldn't wait to take my needle and thread to it. For this layout, I decided to make each flower on the roll unique by adding different embroidery stitches to them. With the felt, it couldn't be easier. There's no pre-piercing required. The needle and thread go through the felt material easily. And unlike stitching on paper, it's incredibly forgiving. if you make a mistake, it doesn't leave a permanent hole. Stitching on the felt was also a great way to add visual interest and texture...and it's customizable. I really wanted to bring in the colors of the patterned paper so I added red, green, and orange thread to the blue felt. I adhered the felt after adding the stitching using small dots of 3M liquid adhesive and different Q&Co brads.
If you decide to embroider the self adhesive felt that was released in the summer, I highly recommend removing the adhesive from the back before pushing a needle and thread through it or your needle will get all gummy and will be hard to push through. To do this, place the strip of felt you wish to embroider on a scrap piece of paper. Pour a generous amount of undu over the felt and then peel the felt up. When I have tried this, the adhesive usually stays on the paper as you lift off the felt. Allow the felt to dry before working with it. Always practice with/test a small piece first and make sure you are working in a well ventilated space. That undu is pretty powerful smelling stuff!
